Mother’s Day Tradition #1 – Go On A Picnic
This is a tradition we started last year and it’s my favorite of the Mother’s Day traditions on this list. It was my first year as a mom. I wanted to do something that wouldn’t be stressful and would also be fun for my almost one year old twins.
We picked up takeout from one of my favorite restaurants and headed to our favorite park. It was nice to enjoy the sunny spring weather and spend time with my family.
2. Fill Out A Mother’s Day Questionnaire

This is something that is so fun if you have young children. Have them answer some questions about mom, then give her the questionnaire to read.
It will make her laugh and she’ll love the time that was put into it. This one from All My Good Things is really cute and free. Head to her website to download it.
This is one of the most fun Mother’s Day traditions!
3. Breakfast In Bed
Give mom a relaxing morning by serving her breakfast in bed. This will be a nice break from jumping out of bed and making breakfast for everyone else.
She’ll love it even if it’s not a fancy breakfast. You can do something simple like a bagel and fruit or oatmeal. This is a great start to mom’s special day.
4. Give Mom A Personalized Necklace

Personalized necklaces have so much meaning and are so special. My favorite necklace I have has each of my children’s initials on it. If the mom you give it to has more kids in the future, you can add more initials to it.
5. Go On A Hike Together
If the mother you’re celebrating loves the outdoors, then a hike with family is something she’ll love. Go on a trail that she loves or try a new one.
6. At Home Spa Day
Pamper mama with a spa day at home. You can setup a pedicure station, give her a facial, and paint her fingernails. This will help her feel relaxed. Worth Writing For has some great spa day ideas that you can read here.
7. Do A Craft Together

If your mom enjoys doing crafts, then do one with her and spend some quality time together. Find one to do before Mother’s Day and gather all the supplies you’ll need.
This will be a really thoughtful surprise for her. Repeat Crafter Me made this super cute sun wreath that is perfect for summer. You could make this with your mom.
8. Plant A Garden
Gardens are fun to plant and to see grow. Help your mom get her garden started for the summer with flowers, produce, or whatever she wants planted.
9. Decorate With Balloons and Flowers
Mom will feel so special if you decorate for her with Mother’s Day flowers and balloons. She’ll know a lot of effort went into it and will be happy.
Holidays are meant to be celebrated and this is such a great way for moms to feel special all day and know that her family members care about her.
10. Make Mom’s Favorite Meal For Dinner
Mom’s shouldn’t have to make dinner on Mother’s Day. Give her the day off by making dinner for her. She’ll especially love it if you make her favorite meal. Prepare beforehand by getting the recipe and shopping for all the ingredients a day or so ahead of Mother’s Day.
11. Bake Mom’s Favorite Treat For Dessert
Mom will love ending the day with her favorite treat. You can bake it together or surprise her and bake it for her. In my opinion, this is much more personalized and special than premade gift baskets.
12. Give Mama Some Alone Time
Giving mom some alone time can be so helpful for her, especially if she has little kids! Get up with the kids in the morning so she can sleep in, shower, or watch tv in bed for a little while.
13. Go On A Daytrip
Daytrips are a fun little escape from your everyday life. If there’s somewhere cool within a few hours, like a national park, some hot springs, or a cute little town, consider taking mom to visit for the day.
14. Give Grandma A Book With Pictures Of Her Grandkids
Most grandmas can’t get enough of their grandchildren! Make Grandma a book that has pictures of all of her grandkids in it. This will be one of her favorite gifts ever.
15. Watch A Movie Together
If Mom loves movies or wants to have a chill Mother’s Day, then find a new movie to watch with her.
