You can make them for a party, for a Christmas movie night, or just because you love hot chocolate.
They can be made ahead of time which is nice, and they’re also great for gifting to family, friends, and neighbors. Just give them instructions on what to do with it.
They are fun to make, warm, tasty, and such a cute winter treat.
If you’re wondering what exactly hot chocolate bombs are, they’re balls or different shapes of things that are coated in chocolate and filled with everything you need to make hot chocolate. You add them into a cup of hot milk and stir till they’re melted. You’ll then have a creamy and delicious mug of hot chocolate to drink.
What You’ll Need
You’ll need a Christmas silicone baking mold to make these. I used the snowman and reindeer from this set that’s linked here.
This recipe will make one hot cocoa bomb.
- 1/3 cup chocolate chips
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 2 tbsp mini marshmallows
- 1 cup milk
How To Make Hot Cocoa Bombs
Step 1 – Melt about 2/3 of your chocolate chips in the microwave in 30 second increments and line the silicone baking mold with it. Freeze for 20 minutes.
Step 2 – Add cocoa powder, sugar, and mini marshmallows into the mold.
Step 3 – Melt the rest of your chocolate chips and cover the top of the mold. Freeze for 20 minutes.
Step 4 – Add to 1 cup of hot milk and stir, then enjoy your warm and creamy hot chocolate.
- I used peppermint marshmallows for a little peppermint flavor.
- If you want to add flavor syrups like vanilla, hazelnut, or peppermint, add it to the milk and not the hot cocoa bomb.
- Other things you could add to your hot cocoa bomb are chocolate chips, chocolate shavings, crushed candy canes, or festive sprinkles.
These are a great Christmas treat to make ahead of time and give to friends and family as gifts. They’re delicious and your kids will love them!
